Buying aunty clothes through modern means

Means I've bought vintage clothes online. Thrifting has been popular overseas for a while now, and there's a small but dedicated scene here. I haven't gone to the junkyard sales held regularly, mostly cos my weekends are already packed and I'm not crazy enough to squeeze in trekking all the way to KL/Bangsar, where these gatherings are.

All the pics below are from Your mom's fashion, which is the best site (and only one I've patronised) so far. I love the way they style their shoots, it puts them in a class above the rest.

First purchase ever, made two weeks ago. It arrived on Saturday and my brother called it weird. Well, it's different...the sleeves look puffier in real life and you need a degree of confidence to carry the dated look.

A new collection came out on Monday night and I picked this one up then. It should arrive by this weekend.

Very sadly, I wasn't quick enough to reserve this one. See the model waving goodbye? I would take it personally, but I like this dress so much that this picture is now set as my wallpaper.

Silver unicorn ring

I'm not a ring wearer but I love horses and the design and workmanship on this piece is superb! Click on the image for a larger view to further appreciate it.

From Rabid Fox's esty shop, via someone's Chictopia page (I don't remember who). Which reminds me, I haven't featured that heavenly fashion site yet...

Mama Mia! (2008)

I walked into this with free tickets and no idea what the movie was about, other than it features ABBA songs and Meryl Streep. Not planning to write a full review, lazily linking the NY Times instead.

What I’d like to do is go on record to say that this might be the most fun I’ve had in a cinema, and if you watch it, it’s best not to take it too seriously. As someone wrote, this is the closest you get to see A-List actors doing drunken karaoke.

Time to dig up my dad’s ABBA greatest hits compilation now!

Caught!

I was asked about this twice by two friends all the way in Australia before lunch time. I've never heard of that site before, so it was a surprise. It feels a little like I'm being scrutinised now...

Well, we were passing by on the way to move things out of Fergs' old apartment and instead spontaneously decided to drop by. No, I don't know what I was looking at and yes, Fergus looks like a kid. Read about it on GCB.

Temptation

About two weeks ago I very nearly bought this hand-carved, wooden white colt on Quiet Hours Toys for USD13.25 (not including postage). The store page has been open on a tab in my browser since then, but today I decided to close it and post its picture here instead. How dangerous roving online with a usable credit card can be!

Yes, I have a weakness for tiny figurines. Sigh... This would have been a wonderful addition to my collection.

Goodbye little filly. I hope we can meet again one day.
