Do you understand art?
Maybe it's supposed to grow on you. I didn't like Chaim's depiction of his character's painting above when I first saw it. It wasn't what I imagined it would be at all, even though Asher's first crufixition painting supposedly contained none of his anguish. I can't feel the silence of waiting and the undercurrent of sadness in it.
Have been reading and re-reading My Name is Asher Lev. The themes resonate within me.
